Looking Like A Scene From Dr. Zhivago...

It's looking like I decided to move to Northern Minnesota just in time for the 13th coldest winter on record {I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes close to the coldest by the end of it all}.  I don't really know how much different this winter is from the 12th, 11th, 10th...., cold is cold.  And this is a deeper cold than I've ever been through {South Dakota can get cold, but this!}.  The below zero temperatures have been around consistently for so long that -15 feels normal, windchill of -30* is just another winter day, -20* again--oh well.  Lately I've been selecting areas to live in that reach "extreme" levels on the temperature spectrum.  I'm not sure what that means.  But it does make life interesting, proves that one can adapt to all sorts of circumstances...!

Subzero temperatures started up here on December 5th with a wimpy -5* reading {actually I believe we had some below zero nights in November too...it's all a blur right now}.  Since December 5th there have been 24 days in December, 24 in January, and 2 in February that have had below zero temperatures...with surely more to come {50 days...so far}.  Seventeen of those days did not get above 0* at all.  It was coldest {so far} at -36* in early January.

It makes me wonder how next winter will size up!

*Some of you suggested turning on comments since I'm kind of far away now.  I hadn't really put comments into place when moving the blog to its new location...so here they are starting now!

Fall Any Way I Can Get It

Went up to Flag to experience a taste of fall...is always a bit fascinating going from the desert to the mountain in such a short span of time.  It never gets old!
