We went on a final hike in the desert. Hiking this time of year means +100 temperatures even when it's an early morning affair, tons of water, dressing cool and comfortable. I've been rehabbing a knee injury and it will mean some heavy icing, but I couldn't not say goodbye to my favorite hiking haunt. This place I will miss. It's been a privilege to take in this desert vegetation, craggy mountains, and all the wildlife these past four years. And a hike like this really makes "chilling" on the back patio well earned when the desert sun starts setting--I'm not sure I will be able to find a similar feeling in Northern Minnesota, ever.
