Raspberries: 2013 Version

Raspberries are finally in season and so of course I had to go get some.  Unlike the awesome wild blueberries around the house, wild raspberries are small so I prefer the larger tame variety for preserving and fresh eating.  I think I have enough in the fridge for a batch of preserve plus a little extra and may find myself out picking a few more to freeze later this week.  Raspberries have to be one of my favorite berries and I've been very eager for them to come back around this summer 2013.  Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has a few recipes it would be fun to run through and I'm sure I can be inventive as well.

2012 {Year of Okra} Favorite Gardening Memory

Officially it wasn't my garden but picking raspberries in Minnesota last July has to top the list when it comes to anything remotely gardeny in 2012...this includes picking the tame ones on bushes almost as tall as me as well as the wild ones while walking with Sharna, then making delicious preserves too!

The garden blog is officially a year old.  I'm already looking forward to all the gardening 2013 has in store.  One of the resolutions for the garden blog includes sharing more harvest information from quantity to consumption.

Happy gardening in 2013!

Wild Raspberry Appreciation

Walking along Sharna and I stumbles upon patches of ripening wild raspberries this morning.  So much fun popping these in our mouths.  We'll be raiding more from this patch I'm sure.
